Serverless SQL pool has encountered an internal error

Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

As I understand ask here is that your Serverless SQL pool (Buit-in) is not available, and you are seeing above mentioned error message. Please correct me if I'm not accurate.

Could you please make sure that the firewall on your network and local computer allows outgoing communication on TCP ports 80, 443 and 1443 for Synapse Studio. You may try using telnet to check if the connection is successful: telnet synapsename-ondemand.sql.azuresynapse.net 1443.

In case if you are using VPN, could you please try either without using VPN or whitelisting certain ports as described in below document.

Please verify these firewall configurations and let us know how it goes.

That is correct.

I am not that well versed on networking, but I tried the command you suggested and received this answer:

> telnet synapsename-ondemand.sql.azuresynapse.net 1443  
Server lookup failure:  synapsename-ondemand.sql.azuresynapse.net:1443, Name or service not known  

I executed it with my Synapse Analytics on and with the browser closed, but same response. I am not sure if it was supposed to be run verbatim as you posted or if I should update anything for my needs, so I apologize if the response is not helpful.

Apart from that, I checked the service on ports 80, 443 and 1443 on my computer with the lsof command. The response is empty for ports 80 and 1443, but for 443 I get:

For reference, it found two of my web browsers, a cloud provider and a classroom software. Unfortunately I am not sure how helpful is this response either. Is it useful for helping me?

Thanks for getting back. If you are having the issue consistently, then there might be something wrong with your network settings. I would recommend filing a support ticket for deeper investigation so that a support engineer can take a look your configurations and help provide more information about the root cause of the problem. In case if you don't have a support plan, please do let me know here.

Hi, even I faced the same error, but the solution was simple ,it was due to time settings, I changed time zone to Kolkata and set time manually, then enabled automatic time and time zone settings. If this won't work ,then try in other devices.
