I am syncing between Sharepoint and (not sure exactly where) - but I can see the folders and files in file manager which is what I wanted. But I thought that if I made changes to those files or folders in File Manager, they would sync the other direction back to Sharepoint. I just found out after several days that the changes I made on my pc aren't syncing back up to Sharepoint.
Does the syncing only work in one direction (Sharepoint to local pc)? I want the two to always be in sync, and ideally I want to be able to access everything from my pc, to add or make changes, and have those changes sync to Sharepoint. Am I doing something wrong? Should it be working this way? Any help or direction is appreciated. Thanks

Hi - I appreciate the answer very much and I'm glad to hear it should work both ways. Can you provide any suggestions about what I can check if this is not working? I can see the folders in file manager - I did that several weeks ago, and I can access the files from file manager. Over the past week, I modified files, added new files, added folders etc - all using File Manager, because I thought they would sync back to Sharepoint. But I found at yesterday that NONE of my changes made it to Sharepoint. So they people I work with who use Sharepoint are seeing the same thing that has been in Sharepoint for quite some time. For me, it has only worked in one direction....any suggestions?? Thanks so much!

Oh, and maybe I should mention that the way I was trying to sync was by using the sync feature from within Sharepoint. Does that make a difference?
When I tried to do it the way that you did it, it won't let me use the copied link for the sharepoint location.

I have tested the sync feature on my sharepoint server 2013, it will work normally too.
Per my test, if I modify the file in file explorer, the file in sharepoint server will also be updated. At the same time, I modify the file in sharepoint server and as a result I find taht the file in file explorer is updated.
As I could not reproduce your issue on my server, to do some troubleshooting, you could try to sync another library or other site to see whether this issue will happen.
Or has someone stopped sync in onedrive for business?
As we could see, if we stop sync, the folder tag will change ( the first one is not sync, the second and third are syncing ) :
