Does Azure charge ASR based on provisioned size or usage size?

Hi, i'm very new to Azure and currently testing ASR from on-prem to azure. My concern is the pricing of the storage. Azure charge the storage based on the provisioned size or usage size? Let's say the storage was provisioned 256gb but I only used 30gb, does it charge based on 30gb unit or 256gb unit?
Where in the panel can I monitor the pricing/cost per usage?

    Hi @erlantznaira

Since ASR now replicate to Managed Disks, it is based on the storage that is provisioned:

You will find more information in the FAQ available on this link:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/site-recovery/

If you have let's say more than 10 VMs that you need to assess, I would use the ASR Deployment Planner:

@erlantznaira You can refer to this page for more details on pricing of ASR - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/site-recovery/. Also, check the FAQ section for better understanding the pricing for ASR.

As for your question – ASR for On-prem to Azure uses Managed disks for storage. So, the billing will be according to the disk size that you have provisioned. Thus, in your example the whole 256GB will be billed on a monthly basis. You can find more on Managed Disk billing here - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/managed-disks.

Feel free to write back to us if you have more questions in this matter.
