Yes, you can only use local disks as this is a requirement for Storage Space Direct which is a core component in Azure Stack.
ASDK on SAN storage
Hello,
This is the first I am deploying ASDK in our lab environment using Cisco blade and VMAX All Flash storage.
But asdk precheck is failing with error;
-- Check physical disks failed - At least 4 disks or more of the same bus type (RAID/SAS/SATA), and of capacity 135 GB or higher are strongly recommended.
BusType OperationalStatus HealthStatus Usage Size
------- ----------------- ------------ ----- ----
RAID OK Healthy Auto-Select 600127266816
Fibre Channel OK Healthy Auto-Select 483183820800
Fibre Channel OK Healthy Auto-Select 483183820800
Fibre Channel OK Healthy Auto-Select 483183820800
RAID OK Healthy Auto-Select 600127266816
Fibre Channel OK Healthy Auto-Select 483183820800
BusType showing as Fibre Channel are luns coming from VMAX 450F while RAID are local disks.
I went to below ASDK page and also googled, but could not find that we can use SAN storage for ASDK deployment.

Only local disks are supported for ASDK deployment ?
Appreciate your help/guidance here ?
Thanks
