Azure Web App Slowness

Total noob here. Ported over an asp.net webforms / sql server application for testing. I went with the most basic sql database and web app.

With the above selected basic options, the performance is unacceptable compared to my current hosting service. Pages which normally load in less than 2 seconds are taking 10 seconds or more.

Without experimenting with different pricing tiers, are there reports / logs available which might help me trace this slowness?

    This guide will walk you through monitoring simple application metrics. The Diagnostics and solve problems blade however display's much more information. Since you're trying to determine response time, start with the various reports under Availability and Performance to gain understanding about what's causing your app's deficient performance.
