Looking to perform a Windows update from Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit, to Window 10 - ioT LTSB 2016 on a Siemens HMI controller. The system specs look good except for the processor which is an Intel CORE I3-3217UE. Does anyone know if this can be performed or do I need to upgrade the controller?

    Hello @MF_TFMC ,

why do you choose Win 10 LTSB 2016?

The 2019 version supports Azure IoT Edge (due to the availability of virtualization/container support).

Recently a 2021 version is made available too. On top of that, a Windows 11 IoT Enterprise version is available too.

    Check out the documentation.

Regarding the hardware requirements, it seems you are safe. Double-check the documentation about hardware and Socs.

Intel Core- i3 3rd Generation is a little old, but according to Intel it is still supported: Does My Intel® Processor Support Microsoft Windows® 10?. You would also cross reference with this list: Windows 10 21H1 Supported Intel Processors. I have an older Intel i3 2nd Gen system that runs Windows 10, but it has an upgraded SSD and plenty of RAM to help provide some performance.,

LTSB 2016 is also a little old. It will be EOL in 2026. Per Sander's recommendation, I would go with the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021.

Some developers have done an in place upgrade, but it is better to just wipe the drive with a custom image.
