Could Azure SQL Database auto created and set as provisioned?

Noticed that I was going to get a large bill, which links to Azure SQL Database being setup as provisioned 32GB allocated. gen 5 with 2vcpu.

Any other instances of Azure starting database around 30th Jul 2020 as provisioned?

I don't recall touching this for many months, at most in Jan 2020 to disable the database. Bill has been pennies a month.

The database was original created 2019 if not 2018. but the Created date shows 30/07/2020, 00:48:21, which does not match up with me messing with it.

Is there any way I can check for what was setup before this time?

Currently switched it down to serverless 1 gb which fixes next month bill, but I would like to figure it I had actually done something or azure automatically did something, or worse someone else logged in (which seems unlikely as it a bit fiddly to get to database settings to switch to provisioned)

Hi @matt Aze - It is likely that your database underwent a planned maintenance activity or update and you used to be able to determine when an update was made but the release notes have underwent some changes: What's new in Azure SQL Database & SQL Managed Instance?

This specific issue is best handled via a Billing & Subscription Management support request which does not require a support plan. They have the resources to investigate this exact scenario. Please see: Create a support request.
