Fail to update an existing SSIS package

Hi,

We are running SQL Server 2016. Lately, I have already updated an existing package in a SSIS Solution as the request of sorting sequence has been changed.

When I run the package in Data Tools, the output Flat File is correct.

Then I Deploy the SSIS Project and update a scheduled SQL Server Agent to run that package. To my surprise, the output Flat File is not updated at all.

Is there any way for me to troubleshoot this issue as I have no idea where the problem is AS the package is correct & deployed ?

What will happen if you create a new agent job and run this package.

How did you re-deploy the SSIS package.
Please rebuild your package first and deploy it. if still problem then delete the package from server and re-deploy it.

1) I create a new agent job and run that package. To my surprise, it fails.

Error message
Package execution on IS Server failed. Execution ID: 33557, Execution Status:4.
To view the details for the execution, right-click on the Integration Services Catalog, and open the [All Executions] report

2) After updating the Package, I select the Project Name and select Deploy. May I also ask the difference between Deploy / Rebuild and Build ?

3) Besides, I find that the Version of SQL Server running is
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (SP3-CU4) (KB4500181) - 12.0.6329.1 (X64)

Your advice is sought.

Hi @TonyJK ,

After updating the package, please build the project then Deploy.

Build means to compile all the code that was altered or written after the last compilation.
Rebuild means to compile the whole project regardless of whether or not the code was changed.
What is the difference between a “build” and a “rebuild” in Visual Studio?

check if SQL Server Target version in solution and your SQL Server is same. If your target version is 2016 and you are deploying at 2014 it will fail.

Also check the file from your Solution & PROD are pointing to the same path.

Hi @Cris Zhan-MSFT ,

It turns out SQL Server Agent doesn't get access permission to the Flat File. I have added access permssion for "SQL Server Agent" and the scheduled job is successful.
