Do not remove that account. It's important.
Alongside the administrators group, it should have full control at the root which should be allowed to inherit through the whole file system.
On servers for example, its what allows backups to run, amongst other things.

Nothing to worry about.

The SYSTEM (nt authority) account is used by the operating system and by services that run under Windows. There are many services and processes in the Windows operating system that need the capability to sign in internally, such as during a Windows installation.
