Disabling Bitlocker on Storage Replica Clustered disk

Hi,

I have a Server 2016 stretched cluster running Storage Replica to replicate a volume from site A to site B. The replicated volume has Bitlocker enabled.

We've recently implemented encryption at the SAN layer, so now want to remove Bitlocker. However if I try to remove this from the source volume, I get an error - 

disable-Bitlocker : This command cannot be performed on a volume when it is part of a cluster. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x803100AE)

I also had this error when trying to disable BitLocker on the SR Log volumes and the solution was to place them in maintenance mode on the cluster.
But if I try and place the Source volume into maintenance, it refuses - 

Suspend-ClusterResource "Cluster Disk 12"
Suspend-ClusterResource : An error occurred while turning on maintenance for the resource 'Cluster Disk 12'. The device does not recognize the command

This appears to be expected behavior on an SR volume

This is a multi-terabyte volume replicated over a WAN connection and can't really afford any down time, so would like to do it online and without breaking the replication. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Like I said in the post, data source disk and data destination disk are unable to enable maintenance mode. So, I am afraid to say we need to remove the SR relationship firstly then put the volume into maintenance mode, then remove the bitlocker.
