OneNote/Canvas LMS integration works but does not provide Course Navigation Menu item

I'm the sysadmin for our institutional Canvas LMS instance. Some time ago I went through the process and set up the OneNote integration with our institutional O365 tenant, and we have had faculty using it in their classes for a while. In a MS training recently I found out that that integration provides both the External Tool under Assignments, AND a course navigation menu item to access the OneNote Class Notebook you create for the course. That navigation menu item does not ever happen on our system. I haven't found any info on what may have not worked, or found any steps I missed. Anyone here have any ideas? Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but I'm having trouble finding an appropriate one, so I'll start here. Feel free to direct me elsewhere if appropriate.
