List of all possible Media Center guide download errors
I've published an article that contains a full list of the possible error codes that can be encountered while trying to download Media Center guide data. This list includes some suggested remedies for each error, and also describes how to navigate through your Application event log to locate the error codes and error strings so that you can match them to the list. If you are running into guide download errors in Media Center, I encourage you to check out the Guide Download Error Codes article to see if any of the information in it can help resolve the issue for you.

I have this same problem with an HP m7267c. I figured out I started having the problem after I uninstalled the system-preloaded Norton Internet Security 2005. If I reinstall it from the the HP's application recovery program it goes away again. I don't want the Norton (Symantec) product so I'm looking for a solution also... - Anonymous

I just purchased a new HP m7250n desktop and I am having the same problem. I reported it to HP but haven't received a definitive solution yet, other than their suggestion that I try disabling most startup programs using msconfig. I, also, have uninstalled Norton Internet Security. Reason? It conflicts with my Linksys wireless network adapter. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Linksys tech support (I have no complaint about them, they were trying to help) before it occurred to them that I should uninstall Norton Internet Security, and that immediately solved the conflict. Still unresolved, however, is the Media Center "no disk" error. - Anonymous

Hi Jeff - HP is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. It can affect HP systems that have Image Zone installed and/or have had Norton/Symantec programs installed and then uninstalled. You may want to try to temporarily uninstall Image Zone to resolve this issue. - Anonymous

astebner's fix worked, thanks a ton! I too had the "no disk" windows after uninstalling NAV. I uninstalled HP Image Zone for Media Center PC but left HP Image Zone 5.3 installed. I no longer get the "no disk" window. Hope that helps. - Anonymous

I received the following fix from HP. It has eliminated the "No Disk" error message:
Thank you for giving us time to research.
At this moment, download and install the below Image Zone update to
resolve the issue:
ftp://hp.com/pub/softlib/software6/COL13276/pv-36951-1/sp26630.exe
Steps to download and install the SoftPaq:
1. Download the update and save it onto the desktop.
2. Double-click the icon for the update downloaded in Step 1, and then
click NEXT.
3. Select "I accept the terms in the license agreement," and then click
NEXT to proceed with the installation.
4. Click YES to install the update.
5. If prompted to restart the system upon completion of the update,
click YES.
Downloading and installing the above update should resolve the issue.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Sandra

Hi JC - I don't believe you can go backwards in version for Office like that. If you haven't already, can you please try to uninstall the trial version of Office 2003 before attempting to install Office 2000? There shouldn't be any problems installing Office 2000 on a Media Center computer, but there may be something left behind from Office 2003 that is interfering with things here. Also, what kind of specific errors are you seeing during your installation of Office 2000? - Anonymous

I want to thank everyone for their help in resolving the HP 7250 issue with image zone and that when you un-installed Norton the "ehExtHost.exe" problem arose when starting the media centre. The fix definately works and solves the problem. Been speaking to HP support and none of them had a clue! But this website is fantastic, so thank you guys :-) - Anonymous

It has stoped communicating with my laser printer (Konica Minolta Page Pro 1350) ...other person was right...HP is clueless...the think it is a printer issue, I think it is a USB issue...any help??? Just bought a new Dell, tut tut, with XP MCE pre-installed. After I uninstalled the trial version of Norton, cos it's rubbish, Media center constantly gives me Runtime errors and the opportunity to debug. Great. Anyone got any suggestions. It's really bugging me. Thanks. - Anonymous
