What would you do to make Azure Security Center even better?

Prior to joining Microsoft, I was a Microsoft customer for about 15 years. I started with DOS, moved on to Windows 3.x, NT, Windows 2000 and everything after that – and then to the cloud.

During that time as a Microsoft customer, I often (really often!) thought about the things that Microsoft could do to make their products better.

I’m sure it’s the same for you. You work with Microsoft products, and if you’re reading this blog post, probably use a fair share of Azure services. Hopefully, you’re using Azure Security Center and seeing the things that it can do to help secure your Azure services.

As you’ve used Azure Security Center, have you thought about how YOU would make it better? What kind of things have you run into where you thought “hey, Microsoft really needs to do this!” or “Azure Security Center would be so much more useful if it could do that”.  We want to know!

    Is creating custom rule definitions on the roadmap for Security Center? We require some very specific checks currently.

    Hi Johan - Can you give us a couple of examples of the types of custom rules you'd like to be able to create? That would help us get a better idea of what kind of capabilities we focus on. Thanks! -Tom

      Sorry for the late reaction Thomas, but custom rules like; the status of VM extensions (encryption etc), apply acceptance rules, monitor for certain public IPs etc

    Is there a way to disable FTP and only allow FTPS from specific IP ranges in Web App PaaS deployments ? It doesn't appear that this is enable in the Portal and that FTP cannot be disabled. Even better would be to require IP Range and PKI certificate verification on FTPS.

    Hi Shelly - When you use Azure Security Center, it will assess all the virtual machines in your subscription or Resource Group that you select. This happens automatically. Is this what you were wondering? Thanks! -Tom.
