SharePoint-less in Zurich

Well folks something just occurred to me.

As of March 1st, I officially move on from my short stay in the SharePoint Support team (a superb group of people who I will still work with very closely) to our newly formed SharePoint EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Rapid Response Engineer (RRE) team.

As an Australian completing his “right of passage” in London this role seems to have been designed with my strong desire for European travel in mind. What’s a Rapid Response Engineer? (beside a seriously funny job title) Well, glad you asked. The primary function of a RRE is to respond (rapidly! ) to criticial customer issues. This basically means I’m on call to go anywhere in EMEA to help our customers resolve critical issues with SharePoint (Portal and WSS).

In addition to this, I will also be charged with performing any number of proactive services, including “health checks”, workshops and supportability reviews. (additionally if you can think of a way Microsoft Support can help you prevent issues proactively I’m keen to hear about it)

Now, walking around pretty Zurich this evening, on one of my first “rapid responses”, it suddenly occured to me that I should be using the opportunity to meet with other SharePoint enthusiasts. Late notice I know, in fact quite often it is likely to be, but it looks like I will be here until Thursday and would love to catch up with any Zurich SharePointers for dinner or a beer Wednesday evening.

So, ping me a mail via https://blogs.msdn.com/danielmcpherson/contact.aspx.

Everyone else, watch out on my blog, I may be coming to a town near you, and would really enjoy meeting a local, and spinning the odd SharePoint yarn. I will buy the beer (except for you Germans, I can’t afford it, those mugs are too big), and I promise to blog you, thereby making you really famous.

P.S. Sorry for being a little quiet, have hit a bit of a “B-log jam”, where you don’t post anything else because you know you have this other post to get done. Anyway, seems I burst through a bit today….
