Windows Live Writer
Do we really need another utility to write blog entries? I don't know the answer to that question. I do know that other people seem to think so. Hence the latest edition to pack: Windows Live Writer. It's currently in Beta and can be downloaded from here. In fact, I'm writing this entry using Windows Live Writer or WLW for short. The installation was a snap. Setup was a snap: entry blog URL, username, and password. After that I was placed in a new blank blog entry. And I started typing this. I won't be able to tell you about the publishing experience since I need to finish typing before I publish. I guess I could test the update process.
LWL appears to have a wide array of editing options. More than I'll ever need. It runs in ~35MB of RAM which is nice, less than MS Word which I have been using. Oh, the other nice feature is you can setup multiple blogs. I'm going to try this feature out soon.
BTW: I've always been a fan of little utilities that do a specific task very well. I haven't been a fan of huge tools that try to be everything to everyone. Therefore, LWL should be my new favorite blog writing tool. At least until the Live team messes it up by putting way too many features into it. Let's hope that doesn't happen. But a cool feature would be if it could... ;-)
