Expression Blend Service Pack 1 Update
Hi, I’m Bret Ahlstrom, the new release program manager for the Expression Studio suite of products. I’ve only been in this job a few short weeks, and the first thing I get to report on is a problem with the Expression Blend Service Pack 1 that was released last month!
It turns out that some people can’t get the patch to install on their systems. This is due to an incompatibility between the SP1 patch and some versions of Blend (Japanese, Korean and German for starters.)
We think we have identified the problem and are building a new SP1 patch to address it, and this updated path should be ready to go in a few days. To clarify, only people who have had problems installing SP1 should need this patch. If you have already successfully installed SP1, then you won’t need to download and install it again.
Thanks and stay tuned.
- Bret

Brett, Could you make a post that enumerates the differenceces (if any) between Blend SP1 and Blend 2 December Preview? It would be nice to know if a feature (or bug) might be present in one or the other if we need a certain feature or encounter a specific bug.Anonymous

Adam - while I am not Bret, the following link shows you the new features in December 2 Preview compared to Blend 1 (with or without SP1): http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/download.aspx?key=blend2preview This service pack is for Blend 1, and outside of improved Visual Studio 2008 support, there really aren't any new features in it. You can see a list of the changes in SP1 from the following document: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944809/en-us Cheers! KirupaAnonymous

FWIW, it's more than just a localized languages. I'm in the US with a copy of Blend installed off my MSDN CDs (MSDN Premium license), and it's installed using the defaults. I get the 1643 error that others are getting on 3 different machines (a Vista Ultimate, a Windows XP sp3, and a Windows XP 64bit edition -- latest SP).Anonymous

Hi Bret, I just purchased Expression Studio 2 and am having alot of trouble with the install. I continue to get the error "Trial key has expired...". I have the product key and am anxious to get it in to get expression blend working. I have removed all office 2007 updates also before installing. Can you help? Thanks David
