Host: Needs Attention
Since we have so many people either trying out SCVMM for the first time or new to the product, I wanted to take just a minute and discuss what is one of the most common calls that we see here in CSS. That is, once SCVMM is installed and you add a new Host server, it has a status of 'Needs Attention'.
(excerpt from the Release Notes)
Missing Hyper-V or BITS update causes hosts to go into a Needs Attention state
VMM requires an important update from Hyper-V and a critical update from Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). Without these updates, VMM hosts display in the state of “Needs Attention” and the virtualization service version as “Upgrade available”.
Download and install the following updates on all of your Hyper-V hosts:
· Hyper-V Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB 956589) on the Microsoft Download Center at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=113199.
· Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) update (KB 956774) on the Microsoft Download Center at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=128540.
Since I mentioned the Release Notes, I would strongly encourage everyone to take a few minutes and review this important document that shipped with SCVMM (relnotes.htm) or can be downloaded here.
Keep in mind that these hotfixes will require a single reboot.
