Kris Bash recently posted an excellent article on Management Pack Authoring for Linux and UNIX. Kris covers UNIX/Linux application discovery, process monitoring, shell command monitors, parsing output from shell commands with PowerShell, custom perf collection/monitoring, and log file monitoring (including multi-line matches).
