Microsoft Sponsors Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s Annual Luncheon
Leadership is an attribute found in abundance here in Silicon Valley. With many worldwide-renowned businesses calling the Valley their home, it’s no wonder that this region is known for some of the best and brightest minds from around the world.
In an effort to bring together many of the Bay Area’s leaders, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) was founded in 1977 and grew to what is now the largest organization of its kind in Silicon Valley. Today, SVLG includes more than 345 member companies and collectively its members contribute more than $1 trillion to the global economy.
To celebrate the group’s achievements and to address the work that still needs to be done, SVLG hosted its Annual Luncheon on November 4. This year’s occasion included more than 1,200 attendees, 150 CEOs and 60 elected officials. Throughout the lunch, attendees heard several calls-to-action, including requests for donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank and 1,000 Hearts for 1,000 Minds. During this year’s luncheon, Mike Splinter, CEO of Applied Materials, was awarded the Spirit of Silicon Valley Lifetime Achievement Award. Before the gathering concluded, attendees listened to a panel on “Jobs, the Economy & Global Competitiveness,” where several of our area’s leaders discussed the hottest topics facing the Valley and beyond.
Microsoft is proud to be a corporate member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and a Pillar Sponsor of this year’s SVLG Annual Luncheon.
