A partner is inquiring if it would be possible for a user with Windows 10 Home to upgrade to Windows 10 Professional by purchasing Microsoft 365.

I’m sorry to report that the upgrade benefit included in Windows 10 Enterprise through CSP or Microsoft 365 is a benefit that ONLY takes Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. It does not move Windows 7 Home, Windows 8.1 Home, or Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.

    As CSP guidance says "currently": Customers with devices running Windows 7 or 8.1, Home, Core or Bing editions, can utilize these new upgrade benefits however their devices will upgrade to Windows 10 Home edition, not Pro. In order to get to Windows 10 Pro, and be able to step up to Enterprise subscription, devices on Windows 10 Home should use the Windows 10 Pro Pack available in the Windows Store for USD$99 per device.
