Upcoming Updates for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

Hi WSUS Admins,

We are planning on releasing two updates related to the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. Both of these address customer feedback problems that have been reported back to us.

The first is for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 that enables Firefox browsers to use ClickOnce technology. We will be releasing an update to the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 in order to make the extension compatible with future versions of Firefox and enable the uninstall button of the add-on. This update is applicable to all machines with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.

We will also be releasing a revised .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Family Update this week for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP with the .NET 3.5 SP1 language packs separated from the original update. While the detection logic has been updated, there have been no changes made to the binaries shipped. Therefore, machines that have previously installed the .NET 3.5 SP1 do not need to install this again. Machines with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed and without .NET 3.5 SP1 language packs, will receive the latter as a separate update.

    this update is a pin in the neck , since i got it my pc windows update is looping once and over again . and never install it .

    Alexander said: "Excellent news for FireFox users!" Don't be so sure.  When MS decides to improve a rival's web browser, you have to be cautitious.  MS knows that FF is its main competitor and so by fixing one thing, there is a chance that something else will be broken deliberately!

    Given that they still have a silly religious devotion to keeping the front page "clean", it's a wonder their other products have done as well as they have. But many of them are making progress, slowly but surely, and I suspect one day Sergey and Larry will realize that starting with "search" is actually less convenient than starting with clicks and build out the front page

    Where do you get the files, Microsoft Update Catalog? Which files do you need to load. Why doesn't KB951847 list the files for download. Want to install the update manually before releasing to my users on WSUS.
