Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8: How to make UAC exception for applications

Steps

1. Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit

Step 1**:** First, download and install the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit from the following link:

The utility is for Windows Vista and Windows 7. But they have been tested on Windows 8 OS 64-bit without any issues.

The Utility is available for 32-bit and 64-bit separately. So before starting make sure the application type we are going to make exception. If it is 32-bit select the utility for 32-bit otherwise select 64-bit form the programs menu.

2. Application Fix

From the Compatibility Administrator window, from the main console, go to Custom Databases and then New Database. Right-click on the new database and select Create New and select Application Fix.

3. Wizard

The  Create new Application Fix  wizard will open. Type the program and program file location. The name of the vendor is optional. Click Next.

4. RunAsInvoker

 From the Compatibility Modes window, select the option RunAsInvoker. Check this mode and click Next.

5**.** Click Finish.

6. Save Database

Step 6: Now save the database with a name. Here we used Malwarebyte.

In the Database Name window type a name for the fix you just created and click OK.

7. Apply Setting

To apply it, open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

Type the following command: "sdbinst [path]\filename.sdb", where [path] is the location of the file we created using the Compatibility Administrator, and then press Enter.

Here my sdb file location is c:\users\desktop. So executed it as sdbinst c:\users\desktop\malwarebyte.sdb and press Enter.

You will receive the confirmation for the installation as shown below.

Next time onwards we can open the application without prompting the UAC . That’s it. Hope it will help.
