SCCM 2007: Test Lab Guide - Installation

 


Step 1: Base Configuration test lab

 

Set up the base configuration test lab with the instructions found in Base Configuration TLG (Download Center).

Step 2: Set up SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on APP1

Set up SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on APP1 with the instructions found in Test Lab Guide: SQL Server 2008 R2 (Download Center).

Step 3: Install System Center Configuration Manager 2007 on APP1

  1. Connect the APP1 computer to a network that has Internet access and reconfigure the network adapter as needed.
  2. In Server Manager, in Features Summary, click Add Features.
  3. Click Remote Differential Compression, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), click Add Required Role Services, and then click Next.
  4. On the Introduction to Web Server (IIS) page, click Next.
  5. On the Select Role Services page, under Common HTTP Features (Installed), click WebDAV Publishing.
  6. For Application Development, select the ASP.NET check box and, when prompted, click Add Required Role Services to add the dependent components.
  7. For Security, select the Windows Authentication check box.
  8. In the Management Tools node, for IIS 6 Management Compatibility, ensure that both the IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility and IIS 6 WMI Compatibility check boxes are selected, and then click Next.
  9. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click Install.
  10. On the Installation Results page, click Close.

  12. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  13. In the details pane, start the SQL Server Agent (SMSQLSERVER) service.
  14. Insert the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 DVD.
  15. OPTIONAL: Prepare Active Directory Schema by running \SMSSetup\bin\i386\extadsch.exe from the SCCM 2007 DVD from the command line (run as administrator)
  16. OPTIONAL: Install either WSUS SP3 Console only or install WSUS SP3 console and server.
  17. On the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 window, click Configuration Manager 2007 under Install.
  18. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes.
  19. On the Welcome page, click Next.
  20. On the Available Setup Options page, click Next.
  21. On the Microsoft Software License Terms page, click I accept these license terms, and then click Next.
  22. In the Installation Settings page, click Simple settings, and then click Next.
  23. On the Customer Experience Improvement Program Configuration page, click Next.
  24. On the Product Key page, type your product key, and then click Next.
  25. On the Site Settings page, type CHQ in Site code, and Contoso Headquarters Site in Site name, and then click Next.
  26. On the Updated Prerequisite Components page, click Check for updates and download newer versions to an alternate path, and then click Next.
  27. On the Updated Prerequisite Component Path page, click Browse, navigate to Local Disk (C:), click Make New Folder, type ConfigMgrUpdates, click OK, and then click Next.
  28. After the updates are downloaded, click OK.
  29. On the Settings Summary page, click Cancel, click Yes, and then click Finish.
  30. Connect the APP1 computer to the Corpnet subnet and reconfigure the network adapter for 10.0.0.3 with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and DNS server 10.0.0.1.
  31. Re-insert the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 DVD.
  32. On the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 window, click Configuration Manager 2007 under Install.
  33. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes.
  34. On the Welcome page, click Next.
  35. On the Available Setup Options page, click Next.
  36. On the Microsoft Software License Terms page, click I accept these license terms, and then click Next.
  37. In the Installation Settings page, click Custom settings, and then click Next.
  38. On the Site Type page, click Primary Site, and then click Next.
  39. On the Customer Experience Improvement Program Configuration page, click Next.
  40. On the Product Key page, type your product key, and then click Next.
  41. On the Destination Folder page, click Next.
  42. On the Site Settings page, type CHQ in Site code, and Contoso Headquarters Site in Site name, and then click Next.
  43. On the Site Mode page, click Configuration Manager Mixed Mode, and then click Next.
  44. On the Client Agent Selection page, select Network Access Protection, and then click Next.
  45. On the Database Server page, click Next.
  46. On the SMS Provider Settings page, click Next.
  47. On the Management point page, click Next.
  48. On the Port Settings page, click Next.
  49. On the Updated Prerequisite Components page, click The latest updates have already been updated to an alternate path, and then click Next.
  50. On the Updated Prerequisite Component Path page, click Browse, navigate to Local Disk (C:), click Make New Folder, type ConfigMgrUpdates, click OK, and then click Next.
  51. On the Settings Summary page, click Next.
  52. On the Installation Prerequisite Check page, click Begin Install.
  53. Click Finish.

With System Center Configuration Manager 2007 installed on APP1, you can now begin to define Configuration Manager clients, software updates, inventory, and software distribution. Feel free to add these to this Wiki topic.
