RMS Sharing App – The operation was canceled by the user

Issue

Using the RMS Sharing Application to apply custom (non-template) permissions fails with a "the operation was canceled by the user" error. The error code is 0x800704C7.

Cause

Integrated Windows authentication was disabled in the Internet Explorer security settings.

Resolution

Enable Windows authentication in Internet Explorer. This requires a reboot after setting.
