Error: "Attempt to create cloud backup failed" error log: "Backup failed with status: STATUS_ERR_COMPANY_OPEN_THIS_COMPUTER

  • Attempt to create cloud backup failed
  • Error log shows Backup failed with status: STATUS_ERR_COMPANY_OPEN_THIS_COMPUTER
  • Attempt to create cloud backup failed and sage goes not responding

The computer is hanging up and not successfully closing out the company that is being backed up.

The company is open on another computer.


**Section I: Reboot the pc and ensure no other users are signed into that company.  **

  1. Reboot the pc and check to make sure no other users are signed into that company.
  2. Sign into the sage 50 company and try to perform a cloud backup again.
  3. If issue persists and error log shows the same message, go to Section II.

Section II: Run sage 50 as administrator

  1. Right click the sage 50 icon, and click run as administrator
  2. Sign into the sage 50 company and try to perform a cloud backup again. 
  3. If issue persists and error log shows the same message, go to Section III.

Section III: Fully Uninstall and Reinstall the program

  1. Follow article 10169: How to manually remove the program, and once sage has been fully removed following this article. Reinstall Sage 50 to new program path. Try to cloud back up, if issue persists, go to Section IV.

Section IV: Boot the pc into selective startup

  1. Follow article ID 71984: How to boot into selective startup.  Note: You will need to manually select to allow the pervasive service to start during the setting up of the selective startup, or once the computer boots up you will need to manually enable pervasive in services, and start the pervasive service.
  2. Once the computer boots into selective startup and pervasive is running, Sign into the sage 50 company and try to perform a cloud backup again.

Note: If cloud backup runs through successfully in selective startup, but not in normal startup, you may want to contact your IT department to have them narrow down what service or startup item is hogging the computer's resources and causing it to not close out the company in a timely manner.
