Windows 10 v1809 Troubleshooting: Intel Audio Controller version 9.21.0.3755

Introduction:

It has been found that in Windows 10 version 1809 audio may stop working after getting incorrect Intel Audio driver via Windows Update. Those PCs which are equipped with Intel Smart Sound Technology driver (version 09.21.00.3755) are facing this problem. Microsoft has come out with the solution to fix the audio problem.

How to Fix

Uninstall the Intel Audio Controller version 9.21.0.3755

  • In Start Search type devmgmt.msc and hit the Enter key to open Device Manager.
  • One may open the same by pressing W+R keys and in Run menu type devmgmt.msc.
  • Now locate Sound, video, and game controllers and expand it.
  • Look for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R)SST) Audio Controller. It will have a a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.
  • Select the above and tight click on it to choose Uninstall.
  • Check the checkbox against Delete the driver software for this device.
  • Finally click Uninstall tab.
  • Reboot.

  • Microsoft has released KB4468550 to fix the issue.
  • This fix will be automatically installed via Windows Update.
  • One can download and install the same manually also.
