Windows 10: How to Use Built-in Dictionary of Microsoft Edge

Introduction:

Microsoft Edge has a built-in dictionary. After the introduction of this feature one doesn’t have to search elsewhere for meaning of the word while reading an article on the web, PDF files or eBooks. This is one of the best features introduced with Windows 10 version 1809.

 

How to Enable:

  •  Open Microsoft Edge.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Scroll down to Show definitions inline for
  • Make sure this feature is enabled.
  • Put a check mark against each of the following.
  1. Books
  2. Reading view
  3. PDF files

How to use:

  • Now open a webpage in Reading view.

  • Highlight a word and the definition automatically pops up from the offline dictionary. No right-click needed. If you want a pronunciation, just click the speaker icon in the definition box.

  • For additional information, click the “more” link in the definition box

  • The definitions are provided by Oxford Dictionaries.
