Exchange 2010 Troubleshooting: Event ID 2501,2601 and 2604 - ADAccess

Issue

Networking and Exchange, well this can cause issues upon issues and log events you might have not seen before.

For example, on a customer server, the following 3x event ID's were logged every 10-15 minutes:

  • 2501
  • 2601
  • 2604

From the server, you can ping the network, other servers can ping this server but there is an underlying network issue.

Solution

Some steps you can do to fix this:

  • Live migrate the VM(if its a VM) to another host and do a reboot.
  • Check the DNS settings on the server and make sure the main NIC is set under the binding order correctly.
  • Register DNS on the server by using the ipconfig /registerdns command.
