What's new in Fundraising and Engagement September 22, 2022

Important

Fundraising and Engagement is being retired. Support for Fundraising and Engagement will end at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on December 31, 2026. For more information, go to What’s new in Fundraising and Engagement.

The September 22, 2022 release of Fundraising and Engagement contains updates for both Dynamics 365 and Azure services and provides the following new features and enhancements:

This release also includes the following mitigations:

Item How it worked before How it works now
Notification about configuration Previously there was nothing to indicate whether Fundraising and Engagement was correctly configured or not. We added a notification banner in Fundraising and Engagement that displays only if the solution isn't configured. Users with the System Administrator role can also see a button on the notification banner that takes them to the configuration steps.
New Donor Commitment button on Contact Donation Information This button didn't trigger any action on the user interface. Now when a user selects the button, it opens the New Donor Commitment entry page successfully.
Labels on the Configuration page Labels on the Configuration page weren't unified. Flags appeared in different formats, such as Y/N, On/Off, or Yes/No. All labels on the Configuration are unified to improve user experience and prevent confusion.
Data length mismatch between Azure database and Dataverse There was a mismatch in field lengths for the following attributes, which caused the background services to report an error:
  • Address1_Name
  • Address2_Name
  • Name
  • Identifier
  • ChequeNumber
  • TransactionFraudCode
We updated all related fields to be consistent with Dataverse data length.
Payment schedule recurring donation When a user set a recurring donation to start from the first day of the next month, in some cases the Next Payment Date wasn't updated correctly and could result in charges occurring more frequently than monthly. Payment schedules for recurring donations set to occur on the first day of the month are set to the correct dates. We updated the logic for calculation of the Next Payment Date for monthly recurring donations with a recurrent start of first of the month to consider time zones ahead of UTC time.

Important

Fundraising and Engagement is comprised of Dynamics 365 and Azure services, and now they are merged under one card in Microsoft Cloud Solution Center. We highly recommend that nonprofit organizations and partners upgrade to Fundraising and Engagement solution version 2.1.3.0 to take advantage of the latest features and improvements.

Important

Users with access to Fundraising and Engagement may work with sensitive data. We recommend that administrators and users enable multi-factor authentication to increase the security of their environment.
