Business value

Meet water disclosure requirements where significant quantities of inflow or outflow water is stored within a facility. Understand the nature of negative water consumption when the volume of water discharged exceeds that of water withdrawal at a facility and the actual reason could be the use of previously stored water.

Feature details

Water may be stored in your facilities in the form of freshwater for later use or in the form of untreated wastewater that needs to be treated to lower effluent content prior to discharge. If the water in storage is deemed to have a significant water-related impact, your organization may be required to report changes in water storage and the net volume of water stored. This feature provides the following additions:

  • Updates to the Cloud for Sustainability water data model with entities required to record the total volume of water that was stored in the overall facility at the beginning and end of the reporting period.

  • Ingestion and reporting capabilities in Microsoft Sustainability Manager that enable users to enter the total volume of stored water in a facility at the beginning and at the end of the reporting period and the change in the volume during that reporting period.

This feature enables you to record and report the total and used volume of stored water in their facilities, either as freshwater for future use or untreated wastewater that needs to be treated to lower effluent content prior to discharge.

This feature is automatically enabled when the release is available.
