Business value
With the ability to load EPA 2024, Defra 2023, and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) factors in Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you can track and report greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in compliance with multiple compliance regulations. This feature simplifies the process of calculating and reporting emissions for different regulations, and it supports businesses in their efforts to reduce their environmental impact and align with sustainability goals.
Feature details
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regularly updates emission factors based on scientific research and industry trends. You can download the latest 2024 EPA factors from the Microsoft Solution Center, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
The Department for Environment, Food, & Rural Affairs (Defra) regularly updates emissions for use by UK and international organizations. You can download the latest 2023 Defra conversion factors to calculate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from a range of activities, including energy use, water consumption, waste disposal, and recycling/transport activities.
The NGER factor set is an additional set of factors that you can download from the Microsoft Cloud Solution Center to use for calculating emissions, specifically tailored for Australian operations. This feature supports the NGER scheme, which is a regulatory framework in Australia for reporting greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. By loading NGER factors into Sustainability Manager, you can:
- Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory requirements, avoiding potential penalties.
- Enhance accuracy in environmental reporting, leading to better sustainability management.
- Facilitate strategic decision-making with reliable data on emissions and energy usage.
- Demonstrate environmental responsibility to stakeholders and the public.
- Drive efficiency in energy use, potentially leading to cost savings.
