Install SQL Server

This topic contains the steps that you must follow to install Microsoft® SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005. Both versions are compatible with Commerce Server 2007.

To install SQL Server 2000

  1. Insert the SQL Server™ 2000 CD in the CD drive. If the CD does not start automatically, double-click Autorun.exe in the root directory of the CD.

  2. Select SQL Server 2000 Components.

  3. Select Install Database Server and setup prepares the SQL Server Installation Wizard. At the Welcome page, click Next.

  4. In the Computer Name dialog box, Local Computer is the default option and the local computer name appears in the text box. Click Next.

  5. In the Installation Selection dialog box, click Create a new instance of SQL Server, and then click Next.

  6. Follow directions on the User Information, Software License Agreement and related pages.

  7. In the Installation Definition dialog box, click Server and Client Tools, and then click Next.

  8. On the Instance Name page, select the Default check box, and then click Next.

  9. In the Setup Type dialog box, click Typical and then click Next.

  10. Click Custom, and then click Next.

  11. On the Components to Install page, check SQL Server Database Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Workstation Components, Books Online and development tools, and then click Next.

  12. On the Service Account page, enter the service account information that you created when you installed the Commerce Server 2002 Starter Site: SQLSvc, <password>, <computername>. Click Next.

  13. On the Authentication Mode page, select Windows Authentication Mode, and then click Next.

  14. In the Choose Licensing Mode dialog box, make selections according to your license agreement, and then click Continue to start the installation.

  15. In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

To install SQL Server 2005

  1. Insert the SQL Server 2005 Enterprise CD in the CD drive. If the CD does not start automatically, double-click Autorun.exe in the root directory of the CD.

  2. On the End User License Agreement page, check I accept the licensing terms and conditions, and then click Next.

  3. On the Installing Prerequisites page, click Install. When prerequisite installation has finished, click Next.

  4. On the Welcome to the Microsoft SQL Server Installation Wizard page, click Next.

  5. On the System Configuration Check page, correct any errors that may appear, and then click Next.

  6. On the Registration Information page, complete the Name, Company and product key fields, and then click Next.

  7. On the Components to Install page, check SQL Server Database Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Workstation Components, Books Online and development tools, and then click Next.

  8. On the Instance Name page, select Default Instance, and then click Next.

  9. On the Authentication Mode page, select Windows Authentication Mode, and then click Next.

  10. On the Service Account page, enter the service account information that you created when you installed the Commerce Server 2002 Starter Site. Click Next.

  11. On the Report Server Installation Options page, click Next.

  12. On the Error and Usage Report Settings page, click Next.

  13. On the Collation Settings page, click Next.

  14. On the Ready to Install page, click Install. When setup for all components has finished, click Next.

  15. On the Completing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup page, click Finish.
