How to: Display a Microsoft Dynamics NAV Page in a Web Part

You can display a Microsoft Dynamics NAV page on a SharePoint site by adding a Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part to a SharePoint Web Part page, and then adding the Microsoft Dynamics NAV page to the Web Part. Similar to other Web Parts in SharePoint, after you have added the Microsoft Dynamics NAV page, you can customize the Web Part’s appearance and connect it to other Web Parts to set up interaction, such as data transfer and filtering.

Note

To add a Web Part to a page, you must have at least Contribute permission to the SharePoint site. You are assigned Contribute permission by the SharePoint group membership.

Important

If you will be adding and connecting more than one Web Part on the page, then the order in which you add the Web parts is important. You must add the Web part that will function as the data provider before you add the Web Part that will function as the data consumer. For more information about Web Part connections, see Connecting Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Parts to Other Web Parts.

To add a Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part

  1. Open the SharePoint site that you want to change and browse to the page on which you want to add the Microsoft Dynamics NAV page.

  2. On the ribbon, choose Page, and then choose Edit.

  3. Do one of following:

    • If you are editing a Web Part page type, in the box where you want to add the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part, choose Add a Web Part.

    • For other page types, choose the location on the page where you want to add the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part, choose the Insert tab, and then choose Web Part.

  4. In the Categories pane, select Miscellaneous, select Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part, and then choose Add.

To display a page in a Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part

  1. In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web Part, choose the Open the tool pane link or in the header, choose the drop-down arrow, and then choose Edit Web Part.

  2. In the tool pane on the right, in the NAV page box, select the page that you want, and then choose the OK button to finish.

    Important

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client does not support the NavigatePage page type. If you try to display a NavigatePage type on a SharePoint site, then you will get an error that states that the page cannot be built.
