Generating Output Options
You can use the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Reference Help Generator to create a new Help project or add missing Help topics. It can also be used to create a report of missing topics without adding them to a Help project.
Reference Help Generator Output Options
There are three options for generating output with the Reference Help Generator.
Generating a New Help Project
Creating Help for your customers adds end-user satisfaction and increases understanding of the product. Use the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 Help Toolkit to create a basis for writing a new Help project. You have the option of starting with empty topics, or using descriptions from the code as a foundation for writing. For more information, see How to: Generate a New Help Project.
Adding Topics to an Existing Help Project
When the product changes and new fields, tables, or pages are added, you have to update the existing Help project with those additions. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 Help Toolkit can be used to locate the undocumented objects. For more information, see How to: Add Topics to an Existing Help Project.
Auditing Missing Topics
The audit mode in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Reference Help Generator will help you gain an overview of which topics are missing in your Help project. The process of defining the missing object documentation can give you a good overview of the effort that is required to complete the documentation. To assess missing Help coverage, you need existing Help files for the comparison. The Help files can be either provided in a compiled format, as .chm files, or as HTML Help project that contains source HTML topics. For more information, see How to: Generate a Report of Missing Help Topics.
