Level Field, Sales Line Table

This field can only contain whole number values.

Levels are used to divide sales quotes in separate fields. A maximum of 10 levels in possible.

The levels are automatically assigned as described under Begin total and End total. Therefore, the level number cannot be changed. Normally the level number is not displayed on the screen. The level assignment is governed by the line type.

Line type Comment

Title

Text lines with a maximum of 50 characters, bold. If supported by the printer, the text can be formatted as a title and emphasized.

Begin total

Begin totals are subheadings that belong pairwise to end totals.

End total

End totals represent subtotals. With these, all lines starting from the corresponding begin total are added.

New Page

New Page causes a page break during printing of sales quotes and orders.

Begin and End totals are described together, since these two line types always go together. Not only subheadings and subtotals can be built with Begin and End totals.

Additionally, all lines between this particular pair of lines are indented one level, thus when printing sales quotes it is possible to print them in any desired degree of detail. So, all the positions of a quote or only collections of amounts on level End total1 or End total2 can be printed, as desired.

For Begin and End totals the following rules apply:

  • For every Begin total an End total must be defined.

  • All lines between Begin and End totals are indented one place when Function, Recalculate Lines (Ctrl-F9) is performed. In doing so level and classification numbers are also determined.

  • All lines between Begin and End totals are added, unless they are lines of the variant type. These will be described later.

  • Normally in the text field for a Begin total a subtitle is defined, for example Accessories.

  • This subtitle is automatically transferred as text to the End total line when recalculated. Thus, according to the above example: Total Accessories.

  • A maximum of 10 levels can be established in which the individual levels can be nested.

Design Possibilites for Title and Page Makeup

In order for the full design scope of line types to be exploited, quotation forms and printer controls must be optimally configured by a Microsoft Dynamics NAV specialist.
