No. of Units in Period Field, Depreciation Table Line Table

Specifies the number of units produced by the asset that this depreciation table applies to, during the period when this line applies.

You use this field if you want to depreciate the asset according to number of units produced. You can use this method to depreciate production machines with a known lifetime capacity. If you use this field, you must also enter the total number of units that the asset is expected to produce in its lifetime in the Total No. of Units field on the depreciation table header. The program calculates the percentage of the asset's capacity that has been used with the following formula:

No. of Units in Period / Total No. of Units * 100

The program enters the percentage in the Period Depreciation % field.

To ensure the accuracy of this method, you may want to wait until the end of each period to enter the number of units used.
