BOM Cost Shares Window

Shows cost shares for parent items and all the items in their assembly BOM or production BOM.

The BOM Cost Shares window can help to explain how cost shares and the unit cost of a parent item are calculated. It is organized according to the BOM structure to reflect at which levels the individual costs apply. Each item level can be collapsed or expanded to obtain an overview or detailed view.

You can view cost shares rolled up or you can view cost shares for a single BOM level. The single-level cost share fields can be used to determine the variance postings for items that are set up to use the standard costing method. The rolled-up cost share fields can be used to determine how capacity and purchased items contribute to the cost of the parent item in multi-level BOMs.

The following field descriptions are based on material cost.

Field Description

Single-Level Material Cost

Specifies the material cost of all components on the parent item’s BOM.

Rolled-up Material Cost

Specifies the material cost of all items at all levels of the parent item’s BOM, added to the material cost of the item itself.

For assembly BOMs, resources are listed under the items in the BOM.

For production BOMs, machine or work centers are listed under the items in the BOM.
