Bin Types Window

Specifies the types of bins that you want to use in the warehouse. Provide a code, and optionally a description, for each bin type and then define the basic warehouse activities that you want to use the bin for in the item flow.

When a bin has been assigned a bin type, the bin for the activities is associated with the bin type.

You can define only one bin type for each combination of activities, so you have a limited number of bin types. For example, you can have only one bin type that will be used for both pick and put away activities.

You can make one bin type if the usual warehouse activities are not able to be performed with bins of this type. You use this bin type for special purposes, for example, inventory adjustments, defective items, quality assurance, or quality control. To place items in this bin, you have to perform a warehouse movement.
