Bin Code Field, Warehouse Activity Line Table
Specifies the bin where items on the line are handled. Depending on whether the action type is Take or Place, you either take items out of the bin or place items into the bin.
Additional Information
A bin code is always preset in this field, for warehouse activity lines of both Take and Place type. It is copied from one of the following places:
The Bin Code field of the source document line, such as a production order component line.
The default bin, such as where the item was last used. For more information, see Default Bin Selection.
The location card, such as from the From-Assembly Bin Code field, to define a standard item flow for certain internal operations.
You can change the contents of the Bin Code field on both line types. For example, you may not want to use the bins that are already specified on the lines according to the default setup or the source document. The following limitations exist:
The bin code on Take lines must have availability. You can only fill in the field by selecting from the Bin Contents window, and you can only select another bin where the item is also available.
Note
This limitation also applies if the line is for an inventory pick of a finished item that is assembled to a sales order.
If the Bin Code field on a Place line is already specified with a bin code that is defined on the source document, then you cannot change it.
If the line is for an inventory pick of assemble-to-order quantities that must be shipped from the bin, then the Bin Code field can be specified according to a standard assembly output flow that is set up in the From-Assembly Bin Code field for the location. For more information, see “Handling Assemble-to-Order Items in Inventory Picks” in Inventory Pick.
