Windows Text Services

To truly exploit the functionality of Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition, the next step is to add support for Text Services Framework (TSF). TSF provides a simple and scalable framework for integrating text input services like Tablet PC Input Panel and desktop speech recognition into your application.

Integrating TSF fully enables your application on Tablet PC in two important ways:

• Speech and text recognition engines can examine the text around the insertion point.

  This increases the accuracy of both text recognition and placement of spaces and punctuation.

• The built-in Tablet PC user interface (UI) for text correction is enabled.

  An example of this feature exists in the Input Panel text preview pane. When users employ handwriting or dictation to input text into the text preview pane, they can easily correct a mis-recognized word. They tap the word this action displays a list of alternate matches to the word that they wrote or spoke, as well as other correction-related actions.
