Important

You must be a search services administrator to perform the following procedure. For more information, see Add or remove a search services administrator (Search Server 2008).

When you perform a full crawl, all content specified by the content source you are crawling is crawled even if the content already exists in the index. To perform a full crawl, you must crawl the content defined in a particular content source individually. Note that using the Start all crawls link on the Manage Content Sources page results in all content sources being crawled using an incremental crawl, unless the system detects that a full crawl is required.

Note

Unless otherwise noted, the information in this article applies to both Microsoft Search Server 2008 and Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express.
