Rules Distribution Page, Map Dialog Boxes
Use the Distribution page to control the way ranges of values are calculated for a map layer that has a spatial data and analytical data relationship. Color rules, size rules, and width rules use distribution options.
To control whether a legend displays distribution ranges or to control the format of the text in the legend, set the options on the Legend page of the corresponding rules. For more information, see How to: Change Map Legends, Color Scale, and Associated Rules (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS).

Distribution options
Select options to specify how to create ranges of data values. The color of a map element varies depending on its aggregated data value and where that value falls in the range.Distribution
Select the method to use to divide data values into distinct groups:**Optimal **Divide the data by using a method that more accurately shows the distribution of data. This approach provides a balance between the EqualInterval and EqualDistribution methods. When you select this option, the number of subranges is calculated automatically.
**EqualInterval **Divide the range into equal intervals regardless of how many data points are in each interval. This approach can produce an unbalanced number of data points per interval.
**EqualDistribution **Divide the range so that an equal number of data points are in each interval. This is also called the quantiles method. This approach can obscure the actual distribution of data.
Custom Specify your own subranges.
Number of subranges
Select the number of intervals to divide the data into.Range start
Specify the beginning value for the range. By default, the value is the minimum value based on the data from the datasets that are used by the map layer, the layer group expression, the filters defined on the dataset and layer group, and the center view of the map viewport.Range end
Specify the ending value for the range. By default, the value is the maximum value based on the data from the datasets that are used by the map layer, the layer group expression, the filters defined on the dataset and layer group, and the center view of the map viewport.Add
Available when you choose the Custom option for Distribution. Click this button to create a subrange.Start value
Specify the value for the beginning of the custom subrange.End value
Specify the value for the end of the custom subrange.
