Setup Requirements (Master Data Services)
Use the Master Data Services Setup wizard to install Master Data Services on a computer. Before you run Setup, ensure that your computer meets the requirements in this topic and in Web Application Requirements (Master Data Services).
Note
Master Data Services is a feature of the versions and editions of SQL Server as outlined in this topic. Any computer on which you install Master Data Services must be licensed accordingly. For more information, refer to the End User License Agreement (EULA).
Requirements
SQL Server
Master Data Services Setup is included on the following 64-bit versions and editions of SQL Server:
SQL Server 2008 R2 Datacenter
SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer
Note
SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer is for development purposes only.
Operating System
The supported Windows operating systems are determined by your edition of SQL Server and the Master Data Services components and tools you run on the computer. The table below summarizes the supported Windows operating systems that include the Internet Information Services (IIS) functionality required for the Master Data Manager Web application and the Master Data Services Web service.

.NET Framework
Master Data Services requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or later. If you do not already have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on your computer, Setup will install it before installing the Master Data Services components and tools.
Accounts and Permissions
Setup uses the user account of the logged on user to install Master Data Services. This user account must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer.
