RetainDays Property
This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.
The RetainDays property specifies the number of days that must elapse before a backup set can be overwritten.

Remarks
For Microsoft SQL Server, backup set retention period is set when media is initialized. If SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL-DMO) is used to automate SQL Server backup, the RetainDays property is only evaluated if the Initialize property is TRUE.
