How to: Convert a Data Source from Embedded to Shared
In Report Designer, data sources that appear in the Report Data pane are embedded data sources specific to the report or data source references to a shared data source listed in Solution Explorer under the Shared Data Sources folder. You can convert an embedded data source to a shared data source. Converting a shared data source to an embedded data source is not supported.

To convert an embedded data source to a shared data source
In the Report Data pane, right-click the data source, and then click Convert to Shared Data Source.

If the Report Data pane is not visible, on the View menu, click Report Data. If the pane opens as a floating window, you can dock it. For more information, see How to: Dock the Report Data Pane.
In the Report Data pane, the data source icon changes to the shared data source icon. In Solution Explorer, a shared data source with the same name appears under the Shared Data Source folder.
