MergeArticle.StreamBlobColumns Property
Gets or sets whether a data stream optimization is used when replicating binary large object (BLOB) columns.
Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Rmo (in Microsoft.SqlServer.Rmo.dll)
Syntax
'Declaration
Public Property StreamBlobColumns As Boolean
Get
Set
'Usage
Dim instance As MergeArticle
Dim value As Boolean
value = instance.StreamBlobColumns
instance.StreamBlobColumns = value
public bool StreamBlobColumns { get; set; }
public:
property bool StreamBlobColumns {
bool get ();
void set (bool value);
}
member StreamBlobColumns : bool with get, set
function get StreamBlobColumns () : boolean
function set StreamBlobColumns (value : boolean)
Property Value
Type: System.Boolean
A Boolean value. If true, the default, changes to BLOB columns are transferred in chunks. If false, changes to BLOB columns are transferred individually.
Remarks
Transferring BLOB column changes in chunks can help reduce the amount of memory consumed by the merge synchronization process.
Certain merge replication functionalities, such as logical records, can still prevent the stream optimization from being used when replicating binary large objects even when the StreamBlobColumns property is true.
Enabling this memory optimization may hurt the performance of the Merge Agent during synchronization. This option should only be used when replicating columns that contain megabytes of data.
The StreamBlobColumns property can be retrieved by members of the sysadmin fixed server role at the Publisher and at the Subscriber (for republishing Subscribers). It can also be retrieved by members of the db_owner fixed database role on the publication database, by members of the replmonitor fixed database role at the Distributor, and by users who are members of the publication access list (PAL).
The StreamBlobColumns property can be set by members of the sysadmin fixed server role at the Publisher. It can also be set by members of the db_owner fixed database role on the publication database.
Retrieving StreamBlobColumns is equivalent to executing sp_helpmergearticle (Transact-SQL).
Setting StreamBlobColumns is equivalent to executing sp_addmergearticle (Transact-SQL) or sp_changemergearticle (Transact-SQL).
