Preview in a browser on export

As part of the export process, you have the option to preview your Deep Zoom composition in your default browser.

Note

You can preview in a browser on export only if you export for Microsoft Silverlight or for Seadragon Ajax.

To preview in a browser

  1. In the Export workspace, in the Settings panel, set the output type to either Silverlight Deep Zoom or Seadragon Ajax, and set your other options the way that you want them.

  2. Click Preview.

    Your default browser will open with a preview of your composition.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • To pan the preview image, drag it to see the section you want to see.

    • To zoom in, click an image or a hotspot. If you have a mouse with a wheel button, you can also rotate the wheel button forward to zoom in.

      Note

      Clicking an image or a hotspot zooms in on that image or hotspot only if that image or hotspot does not have an internal or external link associated with it.

    • To zoom out, hold down SHIFT and click the image or hotspot. If you have a mouse with a wheel button, you can also rotate the wheel backward to zoom out.

    If you used the Deep Zoom Navigation (default) template, you can also do any of the following:

    • Test the internal and external links in your composition by clicking images and hotspots to which you added links.

      Note

      Although the outlines of hotspots are not visible in the preview window, you can still click hotspot areas to test their links.

    • View a slide show that you created in Deep Zoom Composer by clicking the Start/Stop slide show button dz_Icon_Play in the upper-right corner of your composition. To stop the slide show, click the Start/Stop slide show button Icon_Pause again.

    • Use a menu that you created in Deep Zoom Composer by clicking the Menu button dz_Icon_Preview_Menu in the upper-left corner of your composition. Note that when you click a menu item that corresponds to a hotspot, the preview window frames that hotspot and all the images that it contains, instead of zooming in on an individual image.

    • Test the visibility limits that you set in Deep Zoom Composer by zooming in and out on the images and hotspots to which you added visibility limits.

    • Test the tooltips that you created in Deep Zoom Composer by resting your pointer on the images and hotspots to which you added tooltips.

    Tip

    You can also preview your composition after you export it by clicking Preview in Browser in the Export Completed dialog box that appears when Deep Zoom Composer has finished exporting your images.
