How to: Remove Work Items in Microsoft Project

If you have certain work items that you do not need to track in your Microsoft Project file, you can remove them. Removing a work item from your Microsoft Project file does not remove it from the work item database.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Readers group or have the View work items in this node permission set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To remove work items from your project plan

  1. In Microsoft Project, select the tasks you want to remove.

  2. From the Edit menu, select Delete Task.

    Note

    If you delete a task, you cannot undo the deletion. Also, removing a work item from your Microsoft Project file does not remove it from the work item database.
