How to: Upgrade a Project from Visual Basic 6.0
Visual Studio 2012 does not provide tools for upgrading applications and projects from Visual Basic 6.0. If you want to upgrade your project from Visual Basic 6.0 to Visual Basic in Visual Studio, you can use the upgrade tools provided with earlier versions of Visual Studio and then upgrade the project again in Visual Studio 2012.
To upgrade a Visual Basic 6.0 project to the current version of Visual Basic
Open Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition or Visual Studio 2008.
Upgrade your project to the 2008 format. For more information, see Upgrading from Visual Basic 6.0.
Close Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition or Visual Studio 2008.
Start Visual Studio 2012.
Use Visual Studio to upgrade your project. For more information, see How to: Troubleshoot Unsuccessful Visual Studio Project Upgrades.
