Adding a Boot Loader to a BSP Definition (Windows CE 5.0)
To add a boot loader to an existing BSP definition using the BSP Wizard, you must have created boot loader files, and they must reside in the BSP directory or at a different location in your Platform Builder installation.
For information about adding a device driver to an existing BSP definition, see Adding a Driver to an Existing BSP.
If you are cloning a BSP or creating a BSP definition in the BSP Wizard and want information on how to add boot loaders to the BSP, proceed to the second procedure of this topic.
To add a boot loader to a BSP definition
From the Platform menu, choose BSP Wizard.
In the Choose a Task dialog box, select Modify an existing BSP; then select a BSP from the list that you want to add the boot loader to.
Choose Next.
In the Catalog name field, enter a name for your BSP that the Catalog will display.
(Optional) In the Vendor field, type your company's name.
(Optional) In the Description field, type a description for your new BSP.
This value is shown in the Catalog when you move the pointer over the BSP name.
Choose Next.
In the CPUs field, select the CPUs that will support your BSP.
Choose Next.
To customize the BSP and complete the wizard
In the BSP Customization dialog box, select Add bootloader or standalone code to add a new boot loader to the BSP definition.
In the Catalog Item Properties dialog box, select the General tab; then, in the Name field, type a name for the boot loader.
(Optional) In the Vendor field, type your company's name; then, in the Version field, type a version number for this boot loader.
(Optional) In the Size field, type the approximate size, in bytes, of this boot loader in a release configuration of the run-time image.
(Optional) In the Description field, type a description for your boot loader.
Choose the Type tab and enter the path to the directory containing the source code for the boot loader.
Save your changes and close the Catalog Item Properties dialog box by choosing OK.
(Optional) Add multiple boot loaders to the BSP by selecting the Add bootloader or standalone code button.
Note Typically, a BSP requires only one boot loader.
When you finish customizing your BSP by adding a boot loader, choose Next.
In the Congratulations dialog box, choose the Finish button to complete the process and close the BSP Wizard.
You have now added the boot loader to the BSP and the boot loader is displayed in the Catalog.
Note You can add more components to the BSP using this procedure, but you must provide a new .cec file name every time you change the definition of a BSP in the Catalog.
